![]() fast forwarding/rewinding within a track?.this is a tough one I know, but the ability to show a list of 'recently added' albums?.Is there something I'm missing to make UPnP apps better or is it just a limitation of the format? Perhaps a different setup on the NAS? Is Audio Station better than Media server? I've heard good things about Lumin and Auralic apps, but neither one seemed to work for me - they needed actual products from those companies. Sign up for a free Roon trial if your NAS supports it. The CXN will show up as a Roon endpoint since it is Airplay compatible. If you decide you like the Roon interface but are worried about the sound quality of the Airplay interface, you can get a small computer like this hP Mini running Roon endpoint software connected to the CXN's USB input as an endpoint. I have Marantz and Yamaha media receivers that are UPnP and Airplay compatible and have been using Roon for about six months after having tried all the UPnP apps you mentioned along with many others. I use the Roon iOS remote on my phone as the remote control. I currently use Roon to stream via Airplay on the receivers and it sounds very good. ![]() But my plan is to purchase a CXN and use Airplay for casual listening, and use the hp Pavilion Mini/USB input for serious listening. Actually, I am looking forward to comparing the Airplay and USB inputs to see how Airplay stacks up.įire away with questions or it you want to see screenshots of the Roon software. The Synology Media Server is usually visible (more than MinimServer) but even that is sometimes not listed either.Quote from: fiveoclockfriday on, 12:40 pm Hello, my current setup is a Synology NAS (running Media Server + Bubble UPnP server which makes it openhome compatible), which is connected to a Cambridge Audio CXN, which goes out via xlr to a pair of DAC Maraschino monobolocks, to Kef LS50. Sometimes it's there, and when it is it works fine, but more often than not, it is not shown in the list of libraries. ![]() When I leave home and connect to the NAS using OpenVPN on my phone, it's hit and miss whether MinimServer appears on BubbleUPnP. MinimServer is installed on the NAS and shows up on BubbleUPnP on my phone perfectly when I'm at home and thus not connected via VPN. I've installed OpenVPN on both my Android phone, and on the (Synology) NAS. I'm not the original poster, but have been trying to do the same thing. I confess that I have never done anything like that before, but I am willing to give it a try. transcoding e.t.c, as you'll just get vanilla MinimServer through the VPN. One thing to check up front, are you using BubbleUPnP server for anything other than internet access e.g. Would be helpful if anyone with a Synology has any input at this stage. ![]() If MinimServer isn't on the Synology, getting UPnP to work over a VPN can be troublesome, so hopefully that's not the case. Once it's set up, you'll need to install the OpenVPN/WireGuard app on your phone and configure with your Synology's credentials and assuming MinimServer is also on the Synology then it should just appear in BubbleUPnP. Given you've already got BubbleUPnP server working remotely I assume you know how to open a port on your router. Given the instructions are minimal I assume that once you've selected OpenVPN (or WireGuard if it's available) it steps you through the rest of the process. Hi don't have a Synology, but it looks like the right place to start. I confess that I have never done anything like that before, but I am willing to give it a try.Īlso: would I then use BubbleUPNP as normal, but connected to the NAS by VPN?
